When you create an Edge account, no personal information is tied to the account. Information such as email, phone number, address etc. are not tied to the account.

However, separate 3rd party services or plugins within Edge may ask that information in order to use their service.

Lastly, Password Recovery does ask for an email but the account is still not tied to an email address that is because the recovery link that is emailed is actually emailed by you and not Edge. This means that the recovery link used to initiate the recovery questions are not even known to Edge since you are essentially emailing the content directly from your own email.
